About Kathy

Kathleen Ann Jones, age 65, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away surrounded by her children on June 2, 2025.

She was born on August 9, 1959, in Spencerport, New York, to the late Doris (Hewitt) Tutty and Robert B. Tutty. Kathleen was also preceded in death by her sister, Donna J. (Tutty) Haase.

She is survived by her loving son and daughter, James R.C. Jones of Riverview and Katrina A. Jones of St. Petersburg, and their father, K.C. Jones of Palm Harbor. Kathleen will also be fondly remembered by her niece Julie Haase and nephew Chris Haase and their children, along with many long-time friends and her beloved cat, Shadow.

Kathleen lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and unwavering dedication. Her early years were spent in Spencerport, a suburb of Rochester, New York. In her early teens, her family moved to Treasure Island, Florida, where she later worked as a carhop at the local A&W, serving up frosty mugs of root beer. She graduated from Boca Ciega High School in 1978 and later attended St. Petersburg Junior College.

Kathy spent much of her professional life working in the printing industry. Encouraged by her father, who had started a successful print shop on Treasure Island, she eventually took over the family business, which she operated for nearly 35 years. During that time, she was an active member of the Florida Chapter of the National Association of Quick Printers (NAQP), helping to plan events for industry professionals.

When faced with health challenges in the early 2000s, Kathy redirected her energy toward healing and wellness. She founded The Health Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the community about health, wellness, and alternative medicine. In this capacity, she organized wellness expos that brought together experts, practitioners, and inspirational speakers.

Later in life, Kathy turned her focus to real estate investment and financing, working to help secure homes for those who did not qualify for conventional loans. Throughout her many ventures, she also served as a motivational speaker and professional coach, sharing her insight and positive spirit with others.

Kathleen found joy wherever there was water—growing up by the beach, living on the lake, or swimming in the pool with her family. Water brought her peace, and it was where she felt most at home.

For many years, she could be found every Saturday at the Osceola Youth Soccer Association (OYSA) complex alongside her sister Donna, supporting children as they played. Entrusted with bringing refreshments—most often oranges—she was not just a Team Mom but embodied the nurturing spirit of motherhood for all the children. Many stayed in touch with her well into adulthood, seeking her guidance and encouragement.

Spiritually, Kathleen was a longtime member and prayer chaplain at First Unity of St. Petersburg, where she served the congregation by offering prayer and healing support to those in the hospital and home. She later attended the Temple of the Living God. She was also a devoted member of RYL (Redirect Your Life), a support group focused on personal growth and positive thinking.

She was a dedicated volunteer, supporter, and donor for women’s empowerment initiatives, always answering the call to help those in need.

A celebration of life to honor Kathleen will be held on August 9th on Treasure Island, FL. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a woman who brought love, warmth, and light to everyone she met.

When tomorrow starts without me, Don’t think we are far apart, For every time you think of me, I’m right here in your heart.
